The Prill Method

The Prill method was given to us by its namesake, Dr. Clarance Prill, D.C., who practiced in Illinois for nearly 50 years. It is one of, if not the, most gentle form of chiropractic adjusting.

There are 2 key points to understanding Prill work:

  1. The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to remove dysfunction from a nerve (or group of nerves) so that the power that created the body can restore balance.
  2. Nerves do one job only – transmit electrical impulses. Nerves have different reasons for doing so (heat, cold, dull or sharp pressure) but at the basic level all nerves do the same thing – transmit electrical impulses.

Dr. Prill's position was that dysfunction will arise when there is either too much electrical activity or too little in a given nerve. His practice was to determine where the dysfunction lay and to restore balance to a dysfunctional nerve.

The corrections are made by placing the appropriate finger on the appropriate spot (typically along the patients spine) and waiting a minute or so.

That's it.

Restoring proper function to a nerve is what will allow the body to restore balanced function to muscles, joints, organs, whatever was affected by the inappropriate nerve conduction of impulses.

All with the touch of a finger.
